Need to Know!

What’s happening? – Crafts & Games, Hot Christmas Lunch, Entertainment (All free!)

When? Wednesday 22nd December, 11am – 3pm

Where? The Friendship Cafe, Painswick Road, Gloucester, GL4 6PR

Who? Our activities will be aimed toward children between 4 and 10, accompanied by their parents, but younger and older siblings are welcome too!

I’d like to know more!

We hope that you’ll stay for the whole time, from 11.00am – 3.00 pm so you won’t miss any of it!  We’ll provide hot food between 12.00 and 2.00pm. However activities will be taking place throughout the whole session.

Crafts and Games

We’re planning to run a series of craft activities in the main hall – some lovely christmas-themed drawings and colouring. We’ll also be reading stories and every hour there’ll be 15 minutes of party games that are suitable for everyone to join in with.

We’re being joined by Maddi from Mad About Art! She’ll be helping to bring out everyones creative sides and get the paint flowing.

There will be a quiet room available for anyone who may need to sit down or for children who could use a few minutes peace.

We have been working hard to ensure that we are able to cater for every child this HAF by working with organisations like Active Impact to learn how to meet any additional needs your child might have. Please contact us for more information on how we will be able to work to meet your child’s needs so that they can experience the fun of Winter HAF.

Our menu has been agreed with a professional nutritionist to ensure it provides a healthy, nutritious meal. All the ingredients will be listed but it is essential to let us know when you sign up if you have any special dietary requirements so that we can ensure everyone enjoys the meal and stays safe.

We’ll be making jacket potatoes with a choice of fillings: baked beans, tuna mayonnaise, coleslaw or cottage cheese served with a side salad and fresh fruit plus drinks.

We’ll also have a selection of frozen meals available to take away at the end of the event.

There’s a choice of:
– chicken madras curry
– penne pasta with tomato and vegetables
– beef casserole with rosemary new potatoes (vegetarian)
– tarka dahl and crispy onions (vegan)

If you feel your child(ren)’s dietary requirements will not be met by our provision please visit this website for more information on how you can access suitable and nutritious food for your children.

I have a question!

Is this for the whole family?

Although we have several experienced staff and volunteers organising crafts and games (and we know that some parents may have their hands full with babies), we would have to limit the numbers of children and age range too restrictively if we invite unaccompanied children. We hope that at least some parents will want to join in making crafts!

How do I get to The Friendship Cafe?

There are safe walking and cycling routes to The Friendship Café and the number 1 & 2A bus’ run along Painswick Road. There is also car parking to the side of Friendship café.

Please take extra care when parking and leaving as you return to your vehicle.

How accessible is it?

The building is accessible to those with mobility problems – there are no steps and a ramp to enter the building – and there are disabled-access toilets.

We aim to welcome children with SEND, so please contact us if you have any concerns.

Do I need to sign up everyone in the family who is coming, or just my child?

We really need to know exactly who is coming e.g age of school children, younger siblings, one or both parents or carers  (maximum of 2 adults per family ) so that we can ensure that there is enough food, seating and craft materials. If you have any difficulties with the sign-up process, please contact us.

My family doesn’t celebrate Christmas: can we still come?

Yes. There will be crafts activities that include Christmas but we welcome and respect families from all backgrounds. There are no religious aspects to the event.
